I am afraid this query is a bit of a "shot in the dark", but I am doing
extensive genealogical research on my 'working sabbatical' whilst I am here
in Auckland, NZ, for a year.

Henry J (Penney) Newman, was my Great Grandmother's - Kate Saunders' (nee
Newman) Brother.

I am researching my family history, and have been for 2 years, and have found
out that one of my ancestors emigrated to New Zealand. The recent
finding is that my great grandmother's (Kate Penney Newman) brother,
married a Lucretia Lucy Le Grys. Her father was John Le Grys, and ran a newsagents in London.

Henry J (Penney) Newman married Lucretia Lucy Le Grys
They lived in Portobello Road, Kensington, London, in 1891
In 1901, they lived in Symonds Yat, Gloucester/Hereford, UK
Henry was a newsagent and also a Proprietor of the Temperance Hotel in Symonds Yat
The hotel then became the Forest View Hotel, near to the now Royal (was Rockford) Hotel
They had four children:
Louie - daughter - aged 10 in 1901
Ivy - daughter - aged 8 in 1901
Raymond - son - aged 3 in 1901
Douglas - son - aged 1 in 1901
Henry was aged 36 in 1901
Lucretia was aged 35 in 1901

My great grandmother's husband was James Saunders, Chief Superintendent of
the Great Western Railway for 40 years, and lived in Hanwell, London, UK.
Kate Saunder's (nee Newman) siblings were: Clara, Laura, Henry J (Penney),
Edith and Alice. Their parents were Henry (Penney) Newman and Ann
Newman (nee Gillingham).

If you should know anything at all about the Newman family of Symonds Yat, Gloucester/Hereford, or know of any contacts that may be able to help me with my research, I would be extremely grateful to hear from you. As mentioned before, I am in New Zealand at the moment, but will be returning to the UK around April of 2007.

Many thanks indeed for any help that you are able to give me regarding my genealogical research.
Thank you once again.

Kind regards
Alison Tessier (nee Saunders)

I am seeking information on an old school friend Norman Mciver who went to Fairchildes School, New Addington in the 1960s. Norman lived in Blenheim Park Road, South Croydon and his mother and father moved to Hereford to run a cafe in the 60s. Norman had a brother Lionel who played guitar in a group called the Mauve Men. If anyone has information on Norman I would like to hear from them.
